Family Hands touching

Welcome to the Children and Family Ministries Parent Resource page. As we journey through the experience of parenthood together, here are some resources that will help along the way. New topics and resources will be added over time so feel free to check back frequently.

Family Holding Hands #2

We have added a Parent Resource Wall to the Children’s Area at Manchester UMC. Feel free to browse our selection of books and pamphlets that can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks. This area is based on Phase Project – It’s Just a Phase by Kristen Ivy, Reggie Joiner, and Orange (thinkorange.com).

Resources for Intruder Training – 4E’s (Educate, Evade, Escape, and Engage)

Many teachers and students in our area are using an intruder training strategy called the 4E’s (Educate, Evade, Escape, and Engage). At Manchester UMC we have adopted this program as well for our Children and Youth Ministries. Here are links to learn more about the company that provides this training and how it is performed.

Sept.-Oct. 2019

Over this four-week period, Manchester UMC is focusing on a truly church-wide theme, using a book called Defying Gravity, by United Methodist pastor Rev. Tom Berlin. One of my hopes is that together we can discover the forces at work that are keeping us from becoming the people God wants us to be. And in the same way, discover the forces at work that are keeping us from being the congregation God desires, the denomination God desires, the Church that God desires. Moreover, I hope that we discover ways to break free from those forces, align ourselves more fully with God, and live into the fullness of God’s envisioned future.

  • Sept. 29: 8, 9:30 & 11 a.m. — Discovering Gravity
  • Oct. 6: 8, 9:30 & 11 a.m. — Breaking Free
  • Oct.13: 8, 9:30 & 11 a.m. — Tethered to God
  • Oct. 20: 8, 9:30 & 11 a.m. — When We Get It Right
